Spring Campaign: 60 for 60

CMC is celebrating 60 years of supporting public music education through Portland Parks & Recreation! As part of its 60th Anniversary, CMC Inc. is launching a “60 for 60” campaign to raise $60,000 to help CMC grow and serve more students.

Please consider a substantial gift or pledge. If just 90 CMC friends stepped up with a $600 pledge or gift -- that’s only $50/month for one year -- our goal would be reached.  Our “60 for 60” fund will support additional deserving students when high quality music education is becoming more out of reach for many families.

For more information and to make a donation, see our 60 for 60 campaign page.  Thank you for your support of CMC and music students in need.

Sincerely,

-Gregory Dubay, Director & Kathy Schroeder, CMC Inc. Board President

CMC Pens Its History

Who brought the Community Music Center into existence, and what were the influences that helped it germinate, grow and thrive? How many firehouses has CMC occupied? Which year did CMC move to the basement of a church and why? Answers to these and many other questions will be illuminated soon in a new book by local author/historian Don Nelson.

Commissioned by the non-profit CMC Inc., the book will lay out the fascinating story of Portland’s Community Music Center, from the early inspirational movements in local arts education, to the vision of CMC’s founders, the accomplishments of students, and the significant resources and thriving community of the Center today.

Read more about it in our Press Room, and join us for the book release and signing on June 7.
