Faculty Showcase - Benefit Concert May 12
HONORING TWO LONG-TIME CMC INSTRUCTORS
Join AllClassical 89.9 Music Director John Pitman and a team of talented CMC performing artists in a special program of chamber music, celebrating the tenure of Clarisse Atcherson (26 years) and Stevie McDougal (over 34 years) on Saturday, May 12 at 7:00 pm.  The event also supports the scholarship program for music students through ticket purchases, silent auction bids, and a special mid-concert live-auction.   See below for more about our two teaching honorees. Reserve seats before April 21 for the best value!

PATRON RECEPTION
A pre-concert gathering offers patron ticket holders festive refreshments, special “buy now” auction privileges to win and take home fabulous items that night, and reserved seating for the concert!

Event sponsors: First Citizens Bank, Finding Flow Counseling LLC, and the David Kerr Violin Shop.

Silent Auction 2012
FIND A BARGAIN, WIN BIG
Every year the CMC lobby becomes adorned with dozens of fabulous donated items.  Bid on event tickets, trips, and other bargains.  Proceeds support the scholarship program.  Everyone wins when music students in need get help to succeed!  The auction runs May 12 to June 9.  CMC is gratefully accepting auction donations from local businesses through mid April.

CMC Student to Solo with Symphony

Samuel Zacharia, viola student of Cynthia Scott, has been selected to perform the Bloch Suite Hébraïque with the Portland Youth Philharmonic on Sunday, May 16 at 4:00 pm in the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.  Let's all go cheer him on!

Arts Education Narrows Achievement Gap

A new study by the NEA confirms once again the importance of sustained, quality arts education for increasing the learning capabilities of otherwise disadvantaged youth.  "Students who have arts-rich experiences in school do better across-the-board academically, and they also become more active and engaged citizens, voting, volunteering, and generally participating at higher rates than their peers.”

One more wonderful way CMC has served the greater Portland community for over 60 years!
