Chamber Kids Take the Show on the Road

Members of the Community Music Center’s summer chamber program perform classical selections in mixed ensembles on Thursday, July 19 at noon in Director Park (SW Park & Yamhill in downtown Portland); admission is free. More info.

CMC's Community Open House Highlights Historic Past
TAKE A MUSICAL JOURNEY BACK IN TIME THIS AUGUST

On Saturday afternoon, August 11, CMC celebrates the 100th Birthday of our building, the venerable Francis Street Firehouse. Free and fun events include:

• try your hand at playing an instrument or two
• enjoy live music circa 1912
• view archival photos and memorabilia
• watch to a presentation about the building's history by author/historian Don Nelson
• take a guided tour of the building
• have some refreshments, including birthday cake!
• climb on a real fire truck or rock wall
• meet Portland Fire Co. #25

In addition, you can

• shop for an instrument - including used violins, cellos, and pianos (details soon)
• find bargains and vintage titles in our sheet music sale
• buy a commemorative t-shirt
